information and communication technology and its role in reducing intra-urban travel demand (case study: yazd city)

no doubt, given the direct impact of information technology on reducing costs, increasing welfare, economic growth and increasing of employment, have the importance of expanding it’s no secret in iran. the facilities influenced by the growing use of information technology, on the one hand, due to the reduction of urban and inter-urban journeys, reduce air pollution and on the other hand, providing educational services causes to promote scientific community. this study has descriptive - analytical methods and field data collection including library and fieldwork, tries to reduce the effect of ict on the urban travel demand and as a result, reducing urban pollution. a statistical population of is 6 districts of yazd were selected through cluster analysis. for data analysis, were used inferential statistics such as spearman and kendall correlations? the results of the study show that the ict indicators are above average in yazd and there is a significant inverse relationship between ict facilities and the satisfaction rate also between the person visiting and satisfaction of internet site. the results also indicate between the social status (education) and intra-urban travel demand in yazd has inversely significant relationship.
